Meet the Board

Tony Gatehouse, Chairman

Tony, a co-founder of the Medsea Estates Group, lives and works in Spain. After running a number of his own businesses, he built up and sold a successful UK-based mortgage brokering company and moved to Spain in 1984. Here he identified opportunities within the Spanish residential property market where he acted as an intermediary between Spanish developers and UK agents.

Having gained an extensive knowledge of the Spanish property market, established good working relationships with local developers and at the same time a keen understanding of the requirements of the UK buyer, Tony founded Medsea Estates S.L in 1988. Since then the business has developed extensively, leading to its admission to the London AIM Market as part of Medsea Estates Group PLC.


Juan Carlos Rodriguez Martinez, Chief Executive

Juan Carlos joined the Group in 2001 and has overall responsibility for the operational management and development of the businesses. He was educated in South Africa where he became an Associate of the Institute of Administration and Commerce of South Africa (Accountancy Branch). He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Business Management and of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries in South Africa.

Following his early career in South Africa, Juan Carlos worked in London before moving to Spain where he held positions as operations and finance manager of New Restaurants of Spain, chief accountant/ manager of Castle Travel S.L. and chief accountant/manager of Regalos Totem S.L. .Since joining the Group he has been instrumental in broadening the breadth of the company’s operations, including ongoing development projects and the establishment of the Group’s Italian operations.


Graham Jeffs FCA, Finance Director

Having gained wide experience which includes companies in the retail, leisure, distribution and manufacturing sectors, Graham joined the Group in 2006. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he worked for Grand Metropolitan PLC, Amoco (UK), Global Holidays, Sealink British Ferries and Robert Dyas Limited.

More recently he has carried out numerous consultancy assignments and has also served as Finance Director of Kingfisher Leisure PLC, a fully quoted company now absorbed into another group. Graham is also a director of John Armit Wines Limited.


Ken Burrage FCA, Non-Executive Director

Ken Burrage, a Chartered Accountant, is a director of Suffolk Life PLC and Law Alert Limited. He is also a consultant with Principal Investment Management Limited. From 1977 to 2001 he was a director of R. J. Kiln & Co. Limited, a managing agency at Lloyd’s. Ken was, for many years, chairman and chief executive of Burrage & Co. Limited and Burrage Unit Trust Management Limited, companies authorised and regulated by the FSA, prior to their acquisition by Principal Investment Management Limited in 2001. He was also a director of Catalyst Investment Group Limited from 2004 until 6th July 2007.
